WHAT TO EXPECT

Your Sculptra appointment begins with a thorough consultation and facial mapping with our master injector. A topical numbing cream is applied 30 minutes before treatment to ensure your comfort. The Sculptra solution — a fine suspension of PLLA microparticles in sterile water — is then carefully injected into the deep dermis and subcutaneous tissue of the targeted areas using precise technique. Immediately after your session you will notice some swelling and fullness from the water in the solution, which gives a temporary preview of what the final result will eventually look like. This initial volume will subside within a few days as the water is absorbed — this is completely normal and expected. It is important to massage the treated areas for 5 minutes, 5 times a day for 5 days following each session, as this helps the PLLA distribute evenly and stimulates optimal collagen production. Your provider will demonstrate the technique before you leave.

HOW IT WORKS

Once injected, the PLLA microparticles in Sculptra act as a biological scaffold deep within the tissue. Your body's natural response to these particles is to surround them with new collagen fibers — gradually building a denser, stronger collagen network in the treated area. As the PLLA particles are slowly and safely biodegraded over several months, the collagen they triggered remains, providing genuine structural support and volume. This process continues to unfold over 4 to 12 weeks following each session, with results becoming progressively more visible as new collagen matures.
