Laser Hair Removal is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive treatment that uses concentrated beams of light energy to target and disable hair follicles at the root, significantly and permanently reducing unwanted hair growth over a series of sessions. Unlike shaving, which removes hair at the surface, or waxing, which pulls it from the root temporarily, laser hair removal works at the follicular level — gradually destroying the follicle's ability to produce new hair. WHERE IT CAN BE USED

Laser Hair Removal at Avante Aesthetics can be performed virtually anywhere on the face or body where unwanted hair is a concern. Popular treatment areas include the face, upper lip, chin, jawline, neck, and sideburns; underarms; bikini line and Brazilian; legs — full, lower, or upper; arms; back and shoulders; chest and abdomen; and the hands and feet. Both men and women are excellent candidates. Your provider will confirm the best approach for your specific areas and hair type during your consultation.

HOW IT WORKS

The laser emits a concentrated beam of light that is absorbed by the melanin — the natural pigment — in the hair follicle. This light energy converts to heat, which travels down the hair shaft and damages the follicle at its root, impairing its ability to produce new hair. The surrounding skin is left completely unaffected. Because hair grows in cycles and the laser can only effectively target follicles in their active growth phase, multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart are needed to treat all follicles in a given area as they cycle through. With each session, more follicles are permanently disabled, resulting in progressively less hair with each treatment until the desired level of reduction is achieved.

PERSONALIZED TREATMENT PLANS

Laser Hair Removal works best when the treatment is matched carefully to your skin tone and hair color. Lighter skin tones with darker hair respond most quickly, while clients with darker skin tones are successfully treated using longer-wavelength laser technology specifically designed for deeper skin types. During your consultation at Avante Aesthetics your provider will assess your skin and hair, confirm the right laser settings for your combination, and build a personalized treatment plan with a realistic timeline and session schedule tailored to your goals. It is important to note that laser hair removal is not effective on white, gray, blonde, or very light red hair, as these lack sufficient melanin for the laser to target. Your provider will discuss this openly during your consultation.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Before your appointment you will be asked to shave the area to be treated — ideally the day before — and to avoid waxing, plucking, or electrolysis for at least 4 to 6 weeks prior, as the hair root must be present for the laser to target effectively. On the day of your session protective eyewear is provided and a cooling gel may be applied to the treatment area to maximize comfort. The laser handpiece is then passed across the skin in precise pulses. Most clients describe the sensation as a quick warm snap — similar to a light rubber band flick — with each pulse. Modern devices include built-in cooling mechanisms that significantly reduce discomfort, making the experience very well tolerated even in sensitive areas. Session time varies from 10 minutes for small areas like the upper lip to up to an hour for larger areas like the full legs. After your session the skin may appear slightly red or feel like a mild sunburn, which resolves within a few hours. You can return to all normal activities the same day.

LONG-LASTING RESULTS

Most clients notice visible hair thinning and shedding beginning 1 to 3 weeks after their first session. Significant reduction is typically apparent after 4 to 6 sessions, with optimal results achieved after a full course of 6 to 8 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. After completing your series, most clients experience a 70 to 90% permanent reduction in hair in the treated areas. Any remaining hair that does regrow tends to be finer, lighter, and much sparser than before. Occasional annual or biannual touch-up sessions are recommended to address any regrowth that may occur over time due to hormonal changes or new follicular activity.
