WHAT IT IS

Radiesse is an FDA-approved calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) dermal filler and biostimulator — a category of injectable that goes beyond simply filling space beneath the skin. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers which add volume through gel alone, Radiesse works on two levels simultaneously. Its gel carrier provides immediate structural support and visible volume on the day of treatment, while the calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended within it act as a biological scaffold that stimulates your body to produce new collagen around them. As the gel is gradually absorbed over time, the newly formed collagen network it triggered remains, providing continued improvement in skin firmness, structure, and texture. Calcium hydroxylapatite is the same mineral compound naturally found in human bone and teeth, making Radiesse highly biocompatible with virtually no risk of allergic reaction.

WHAT IT TREATS

Radiesse is particularly well suited for areas of the face and body that benefit from both immediate volume and longer-term structural improvement. Common treatment areas include the cheeks and mid-face for volumizing and lifting; nasolabial folds and marionette lines for smoothing deeper folds; the jawline and chin for definition and contouring; the hands for restoring volume lost to aging; and the neck and décolletage for skin quality improvement and tightening. It is an especially strong choice for clients with moderate to significant volume loss who want longer-lasting results than standard HA fillers provide.

HOW IT WORKS

Upon injection, Radiesse's gel carrier immediately fills the treatment area, providing instant volume, lift, and smoothing. Simultaneously the calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres dispersed throughout the gel begin to act as a scaffold beneath the skin's surface, prompting fibroblasts — the cells responsible for collagen production — to deposit new collagen fibers around them. As the gel gradually breaks down and is absorbed by the body over several months, the collagen network that has formed in its place remains, providing sustained structural support and continued skin quality improvements. Many clients report that their skin looks and feels better at six to twelve months post-treatment than it did on the day of their injection — a hallmark of biostimulating fillers.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your Radiesse appointment follows the same process as other injectable treatments at Avante Aesthetics. After a thorough consultation and cleanse, your provider places the filler precisely into the targeted areas using a fine needle or cannula. Most appointments take 30 to 45 minutes. Radiesse contains lidocaine for built-in comfort. Some mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection sites is normal and resolves within a few days. Results are visible immediately and continue to develop progressively over the following months as collagen builds.

LONG-LASTING RESULTS

Radiesse results typically last 12 to 18 months — significantly longer than most HA fillers — due to its ongoing collagen-stimulating properties. Some clients see sustained benefits beyond 18 months. Results continue to improve gradually for several months following treatment as new collagen matures. Regular treatments can provide cumulative collagen benefits, with each session building upon the structural improvements of the last.
